Do you love the taste and flavor of ice cream, but hate consuming it in the cold, winter months? States that experience colder winters often see a significant decline in ice cream sales during the winter months. When there is snow and ice on the ground and the temperatures are approaching zero degrees, ice cream is usually the last thing on your mind. How can you enjoy your favorite dessert throughout the winter months?
Pair it with a warm dessert
Ice cream alone is a cold dish. Yet, when you pair ice cream with a warm dessert, it balances it out. When you grab a container of ice cream from the local grocery store, make sure you grab a box of brownies too. When you are ready to eat your dessert, throw a brownie in the microwave for a few seconds. Take it out and pour the ice cream on top of it. Just make sure you eat it quickly, as the heat from the brownie will begin to melt the ice cream. If you want, you can even add some hot chocolate or hot caramel to the top of the dessert.
Blend it into a milkshake
Sure, milkshakes are also cold, but they are not as cold as ice cream is alone. Take your ice cream cup and put it into the blender with some milk and ice. Blend it together for a few seconds and you are left with the perfect milkshake dessert. You can even add in additional flavors like chocolate sauce, caramel, or even candy or fruit bits. Try out different flavors until you create a milkshake that you enjoy. The good thing about making milkshakes at home is that you can create a milkshake that meets your dietary needs also. About 9% of all the milk produced by U.S. dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream. However, if you are limiting milk products, you can simply add in less milk and use a gelato cup instead of ice cream.
Choose gelato cups instead
Gelato cups are also cold, but they do not usually freeze the same as ice cream dessert cups. Many Americans are moving toward gelato cups anyways because they often contain less sugar, fat, or dairy. At the end of 2013, there were an estimated 2,582 frozen yogurt stores in the U.S. This number is expected to grow even more, as more people choose gelato cups or frozen yogurt cups over traditional ice cream containers. In some places, you can even purchase custom cups that are mixed with gelato, frozen yogurt, or ice cream desserts.
Just eat your ice cream
If you truly enjoy ice cream and it is your favorite dessert, then go ahead and eat it. It doesn?t matter that it is the middle of winter. In fact, you might even get discounts on the ice cream containers, because not as many people are purchasing it. If you want to avoid getting cold while you consume your favorite dessert, wrap yourself in a blanket, sit in front of the fireplace, and enjoy your ice cream. The average American will consume ice cream 28.5 times this year. Although many people are consuming it during the summer months, it is also a good dessert choice in the winter months too.
Ice cream is an American favorited dessert. Yet, ice cream sales decline during the winter months because people are looking for a warmer dessert choice. You can still consume your favorite ice cream in the cold, winter months by pairing it with a warmer dessert or switching to a milkshake that is a little warmer.
